Airline → terminal assignments verified June 27, 2026against the airport's own sources. Airlines do move terminals — we date every change.
Each BWI terminal has its own TSA checkpoint, and the line can be short in one terminal and long in the next. Before you pick when to leave, check wait times by terminal and head to the fastest open lane. Not sure how long to budget? How long does airport security really take breaks it down by the hour.
No automated people mover or tram. BWI is a single Main Terminal split into five concourses (A-E). Airside, the concourses form TWO separate secure zones: A/B/C (via the A/B/C checkpoint; a new A/B Connector opened January 2026) and D/E (via the D/E checkpoint; a D/E Connector with an 8-lane checkpoint links Concourse D to the international Concourse E). the A/B/C side and the D/E side are NOT connected airside — transferring between them requires exiting security and re-screening.
Give yourself a real cushion to connect at BWI: about 45–60 minutes for a domestic-to-domestic connection, and 90 minutes or more when international travel or a terminal change is involved. See our full guide to minimum connection time.
Lounges, dining, and shops live inside each terminal past security — handy once you're through, but they shouldn't change when you leave home. Browsing other airports? TSA wait times by airport lists them all.
