Cheap airport parking, compared by price
Airport parking runs from about $6/day to $36/day across the 150 major U.S. airports we track. The cheapest spots are usually economy or off-airport lots with a short shuttle; the closest are on-airport garages and valet. Pick your airport to compare every lot by price and distance — then add the drive plus shuttle to your Leave-By Time calculator so a cheaper lot never costs you your flight.

Cheapest in the network: Charlotte parking from $6/day. And at 150 of 150 airports the cheapest lot isn't the closest — saving money usually means a few extra minutes on a shuttle. Each airport below shows the gap so you can decide.

Rates shown are starting daily rates to compare lots, not a quote — confirm the current price when you reserve. Reserving ahead usually locks the rate, and many lots offer free cancellation if plans change.
What are the types of airport parking?
Most airports sort their parking into a handful of types. They trade price against how fast you reach the terminal — here is what each one means before you pick.
- Economy parking
- The budget on-airport choice. It sits farther from the terminal, so you ride a shuttle in, but it's usually the cheapest way to leave your car on airport grounds. Good for longer trips where the daily rate matters most.
- Long-term parking
- Built for multi-day trips and priced by the day. At many airports it's the same lot as economy; the longer you stay, the more it beats a daily garage on total cost.
- Daily / short-term garage
- An on-airport garage steps from the terminal — no shuttle, just a short walk to security. The most convenient option and usually the priciest by the day; many also charge by the hour for quick stops.
- Off-airport / park-and-fly
- Privately run lots a few minutes from the airport. You park, then a shuttle runs you to the terminal. Often the cheapest rate of all and frequently with free cancellation — just leave room for the shuttle ride.
- Valet parking
- You hand off your car at the curb and walk straight inside. The fastest and most expensive option, and mainly the larger airports offer it.
- Cell-phone waiting lot
- A free short-term area to wait when you're picking someone up — not a place to park while you fly. Handy to know, but it's for arrivals, not your own departure.
Should you park on-airport or off-airport?
Parking is a trade between money and minutes. On-airport garages and valet get you to security in a few minutes but cost the most each day. Economy and off-airport lots cut the price, but you add a shuttle ride — sometimes 15 to 20 extra minutes from your car to the terminal. Neither choice is wrong; it depends on your trip and your morning.
Whatever you choose, fold the drive plus the shuttle into your Leave-By Time so a cheaper lot doesn't cost you your flight. It also helps to know Get to the airport 2 hours early — 3 for international and roughly How long does airport security really take? before you settle on a lot.
How long is the security line after you park?
Your parking choice only sets the first leg of the morning. Once you know your lot, check TSA wait times by airport so the security line doesn't catch you off guard, and let the calculator turn it all into one clear time to leave home.
