Which ANC security checkpoint is fastest?

South Terminal checkpoint (Level 2) — it has TSA PreCheck lanes and serves nearly all domestic flights; the North Terminal checkpoint is smaller and serves only international and seasonal charter departures..

CLEAR is not currently available at ANC. TSA PreCheck at ANC remains the best single upgrade for reducing your security wait.

What are the top ANC airport security tips?

These tips are specific to Anchorage (ANC) and verified against current airport configuration:

• ANC has two separate terminals with two separate security checkpoints — go to the South Terminal for nearly all domestic flights (Alaska, Delta, United, American, JetBlue) and the North Terminal only for international or seasonal charter departures.
• TSA PreCheck lanes are available at the South Terminal checkpoint; ANC does not have CLEAR.
• Active-duty military members and their families can use new expedited PreCheck-style screening at ANC, introduced in 2025.
• Summer (May–September) is Alaska's peak tourist season and checkpoint lines lengthen noticeably, especially ahead of early-morning banks of flights connecting to Lower 48 hubs and rural Alaska communities.
• If you're connecting between the South and North Terminals, budget 5–10 minutes to walk the covered walkway or ride the free shuttle — there is no airside connection, so switching terminals means exiting and re-clearing security.

Does ANC have TSA PreCheck?

Yes — ANC has TSA PreCheck lanes at its security checkpoints. PreCheck members keep shoes, belts, light jackets, laptops, and 3-1-1 liquids packed, and pass through a dedicated screening lane. Membership costs $85–$100 for five years and includes a Known Traveler Number (KTN) you add to every booking.
