Accessibility
Wheelchair assistance at Orlando Sanford International Airport is provided free by your airline — request it at booking for best results. For security screening help, call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel to have a Passenger Support Specialist waiting at the checkpoint. Family lanes, service animal relief areas, and sensory rooms are covered below.

Airline-provided service
Wheelchair assistance
Wheelchair assistance is arranged through your airline, not the airport itself — contact Allegiant, Sun Country, Arajet, or BermudAir directly when booking or at check-in to request it for your flight.
Tip: request at booking rather than at the airport — airline wheelchair assistants are in higher demand at peak times and early requests are filled first.
TSA Cares
Free security screening assistance
TSA Cares is a free helpline and on-site assistance program for travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, or other circumstances that may affect the security screening process.
How to use: Call 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the SFB security checkpoint and guide you through screening at no charge.
Request a TSA Passenger Support Specialist by calling 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before departure, or by completing the TSA Cares request form. A PSS will meet you and guide you through the checkpoint, though this does not exempt you from standard screening procedures.
SFB does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints. Ask any TSA agent at the checkpoint for assistance — agents are trained to help travelers with special needs and can route you around standard queue lines.
An indoor pet/service-animal relief area is available inside the terminal (Level 2, gate-side), and an outdoor relief area — with grass, benches, waste bags, and disposal bins — is at the south end of the parking garage's first floor, open 24 hours.
Note: service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow individual airline policies — check with your carrier before travel.
SFB does not currently have a confirmed public sensory room. SFB does not have a dedicated sensory or quiet room (unlike nearby Orlando International's Annie's Space). Pick up a free Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard at the Information Booth to discreetly signal that you may need extra time or patience, and ask airport staff to point you toward a quieter seating area if needed.
SFB has no on-site wheelchair or scooter rental counter. Airlines provide a wheelchair for use within the airport and for boarding on request; for a personal mobility scooter to use during your broader trip, arrange delivery in advance from a third-party provider such as Scootaround or BP Mobility, both of which serve the greater Orlando/Sanford area and can deliver to the terminal.
Motorized scooters and power wheelchairs are generally available from airlines for gate-to-gate use; contact your carrier directly if you need a motorized device beyond a standard transport chair.
Pro Tip
Because SFB has only one security checkpoint and no dedicated family or PreCheck-style accessibility lane, requesting TSA Cares or airline wheelchair assistance in advance matters more here than at a large airport with redundant checkpoints — there's no alternate lane to route around a slow-moving line.
Is wheelchair assistance free at SFB airport?
Yes — wheelchair assistance at SFB is provided free of charge by your airline or their contracted ground handler. Request it at booking or check-in. The airline arranges and covers the cost; no tipping is required, though it is appreciated.
How do I contact TSA Cares before my flight from SFB?
Call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before your flight. The helpline is open weekdays 8 a.m.–11 p.m. ET and weekends/holidays 9 a.m.–8 p.m. ET. You can also submit a request online at tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the SFB security checkpoint at no cost.
Does SFB airport have a family security lane?
Orlando Sanford International Airport does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints, but TSA officers are trained to accommodate travelers who need extra time. SFB has a single consolidated security checkpoint rather than a separate dedicated family/special-assistance lane. Ask any TSA officer at the checkpoint for expedited or accommodated handling if you're traveling with small children, medical equipment, or mobility devices.
Where is the service animal relief area at SFB airport?
An indoor pet/service-animal relief area is available inside the terminal (Level 2, gate-side), and an outdoor relief area — with grass, benches, waste bags, and disposal bins — is at the south end of the parking garage's first floor, open 24 hours. Service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow your individual airline's policies.
