A taxi is the simplest door-to-door option and needs no app. Fares to downtown Fort Myers are on the meter, so the total depends on traffic and your exact address.

On-demand taxis at the curb with no reservation needed; pre-arranged taxis and limos meet passengers in baggage claim. For help, call the Ground Transportation Booth at 239-590-4738.
Picking someone up? Wait free at Cell Phone Lot 1 (Airport Plaza). Off Terminal Access Road at the Airport Service Plaza, about two minutes from the terminal curb. An overflow Cell Phone Lot 2 is on Air Cargo Lane. Wait there until your traveler texts that they're at the curb, then loop in once. Follow Terminal Access Road and the directional signs. Wait until your passenger has their bags and is at the curb (doors are numbered 1-6). No curbside waiting is allowed.
Leaving a car for the trip instead of getting dropped off? It's worth checking the lots: compare RSWparking by price & distance.

Uber and Lyft pick up and drop off at the arrivals level; follow the rideshare signs.
Dropping off? Being dropped off is fastest from the departures (upper) level — have your driver pull up to your airline's terminal. Fort Myershas a single terminal, so there's no wrong-curb risk — any door gets you to check-in and security.
RSW sits about 13 miles from downtown Fort Myers, a drive of roughly 20–30 minutes via Terminal Access Road to Daniels Parkway, then I-75 north toward Fort Myers — closer to the high end at rush hour. That drive time is the first input into your Leave-By Time, so the calculator counts it backward from your flight along with today's security wait and the walk to your gate.
LeeTran Route 50 serves RSW from the ground level of the parking garage (reached via Crosswalks 1 and 5), about 7:32 a.m.-9:54 p.m. Mon-Sat and 8:19 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Sun. It connects at Daniels Parkway and US-41 to the rest of the LeeTran network.
Several local hotels offer free shuttles to RSW; arrange directly with your hotel. If a shuttle is part of your plan, add its ride time to your Leave-By Time — it's easy to forget the 15–20 minutes between the curb and the terminal.
The rule of thumb: a round-trip ride is one fixed cost, while parking adds up by the day. For a quick 1–2 day trip, parking usually costs less; for a longer trip, a round-trip taxi or rideshare often comes out ahead.

LeeTran buses are wheelchair accessible, the bus stop is reachable via Crosswalks 1 and 5 on the ground level, and the Sunflower Program supports hidden disabilities.
Late or overnight arrival? Uber, Lyft and on-demand taxis serve late flights; LeeTran buses stop in the evening and on-site rental counters stay open through the last arriving flight.
Returning a rental on the way out? On-site Rental Car Service Center on the ground level of the parking garage, across from baggage claim. Follow 'Rental Car Return' signs when returning; off-site companies shuttle from the east end of the garage. (We cover where to return a car, not where to book one.)
Recently changed: Terminal Expansion Project construction is changing the pedestrian crosswalks between the terminal and garage (as of March 2026). Pickup zones and curb rules change — we verified RSW's ground-transport details as of June 27, 2026. Always check the in-app pickup pin and posted signs when you land.
If a fare or a schedule points you elsewhere, the closest airport we cover is PGD (Punta Gorda), about 30 miles from RSW in a straight line. The same math on this page — drive time, ride cost, security wait — decides whether the extra distance is worth it.
