Portland (PDX) Airport Shopping

Shopping at Portland International Airport spans convenience staples at Hudson News and tech accessories at InMotion through to local specialty gifts and duty-free for international travelers. See each section below for exact locations by concourse or terminal.

Diagram of duty-free shopping with sealed liquid bags and the rules for carrying them through connections.
Duty-free liquids must stay in the sealed store bag to clear security on international connecting flights.

Duty-free shopping

Limited duty-free in Concourse D near the international gates. Portland serves primarily Canada, Mexico, and seasonal trans-Pacific routes — duty-free selection is modest with spirits and fragrance as the main categories.

US duty-free allowance

US residents may bring back $800 in duty-free goods per person. Liquids purchased at duty-free must be in the original sealed store bag when transiting international connections — otherwise they may be confiscated at the connecting airport security checkpoint.

Books & magazines

Powell's Books (Portland's iconic independent bookstore) does not have an airport location. However, Hudson News throughout the terminal carries a better-than-average book selection with Pacific Northwest and local Portland titles well-stocked. Multiple Hudson locations in Concourses C and D.

Convenience & travel essentials

Hudson News throughout all concourses (A–E) and the main terminal. Portland-specific food items and local Oregon products available at select shops — Stumptown Coffee, Tillamook cheese products, local Oregon chocolate, and Voodoo Doughnut-branded items.

Hudson News is at most gate areas throughout Portland International Airport — a reliable last-minute stop for charging cables, snacks, OTC medicine, and reading material before any departure.

Tech & electronics

InMotion Entertainment at most gates. Standard tech accessories at InMotion and Hudson locations. No Best Buy Express at PDX.

Best Buy Express kiosks carry Apple accessories, Bose headphones, and phone chargers at most major US airports. InMotion Entertainment is the other key tech stop — open at most gate clusters and stocked with travel-oriented electronics essentials.

Fashion & specialty retail

Portland and Pacific Northwest-themed apparel — Oregon Ducks, Portland Trail Blazers, local outdoor gear brands — at gift shops. No luxury fashion. PDX's retail leans toward authentic local character rather than standard airport chains.

Best shopping area

Concourses C and D are PDX's best retail areas — most concentrated Hudson and InMotion, the duty-free in Concourse D, and the widest selection of Portland and Oregon-specific products. The main terminal food hall also has genuine local Portland restaurants.

Pro Tip

PDX's concourse retail carries real local Oregon products rather than generic airport merchandise — Tillamook ice cream and cheese items are a beloved PDX specialty buy. The Stumptown Coffee and local chocolate items are genuinely from Oregon brands.
