Accessibility
Wheelchair assistance at Ontario International Airport is provided free by your airline — request it at booking for best results. For security screening help, call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel to have a Passenger Support Specialist waiting at the checkpoint. Family lanes, service animal relief areas, and sensory rooms are covered below.

Airline-provided service
Wheelchair assistance
ONT does not provide wheelchair service directly — request it from your airline at booking or at least 72 hours before departure (via the airline website or by phone). Airlines are required to provide wheelchair assistance free of charge under federal regulations; requests made less than 72 hours out may be delayed. Single-ticket itineraries only need one request, which follows you through connections.
Tip: request at booking rather than at the airport — airline wheelchair assistants are in higher demand at peak times and early requests are filled first.
TSA Cares
Free security screening assistance
TSA Cares is a free helpline and on-site assistance program for travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, or other circumstances that may affect the security screening process.
How to use: Call 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the ONT security checkpoint and guide you through screening at no charge.
Call the national TSA Cares helpline at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours (3 days) before travel to arrange a Passenger Support Specialist to meet you and guide you through screening. Hours: Mon–Fri 8am–11pm ET, weekends/holidays 9am–8pm ET.
ONT does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints. Ask any TSA agent at the checkpoint for assistance — agents are trained to help travelers with special needs and can route you around standard queue lines.
Outdoor relief areas ('Barking Lots') are on the departure level at the east end of each terminal (before security), stocked with waste bags and trash cans. Indoor, post-security relief areas are near Gate 210 in Terminal 2 and Gate 410 in Terminal 4.
Note: service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow individual airline policies — check with your carrier before travel.
ONT does not currently have a confirmed public sensory room. ONT has no dedicated sensory or quiet room. Instead it offers the Sunflower Program (a discreet self-ID lanyard/pin system for hidden disabilities, including sensory sensitivities and autism) and AIRA, a free visual-interpreter app for wayfinding assistance. Contact the airport's Disability Compliance Officer in advance at adacompliance@flyontario.com or 1923 E. Avion Street, Ontario, CA 91761 to arrange support.
No on-site wheelchair/scooter rental counter is documented at ONT; free wheelchair service is provided by your airline on request. Travelers who need a personal mobility scooter or wheelchair beyond airline gate-to-gate service can arrange rental in advance through a third-party provider serving the Ontario/Inland Empire area (e.g., A Scooter 4 U, 877-697-7725), for delivery to the airport or a nearby hotel.
Motorized scooters and power wheelchairs are generally available from airlines for gate-to-gate use; contact your carrier directly if you need a motorized device beyond a standard transport chair.
Pro Tip
Arrive at least two hours before your airline's recommended departure time if you have special requirements — ONT explicitly recommends this buffer. Elevators are available in both Terminal 2 and Terminal 4, and every terminal floor has a wheelchair-accessible unisex restroom on the arrivals level, past the elevator.
Is wheelchair assistance free at ONT airport?
Yes — wheelchair assistance at ONT is provided free of charge by your airline or their contracted ground handler. Request it at booking or check-in. The airline arranges and covers the cost; no tipping is required, though it is appreciated.
How do I contact TSA Cares before my flight from ONT?
Call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before your flight. The helpline is open weekdays 8 a.m.–11 p.m. ET and weekends/holidays 9 a.m.–8 p.m. ET. You can also submit a request online at tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the ONT security checkpoint at no cost.
Does ONT airport have a family security lane?
Ontario International Airport does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints, but TSA officers are trained to accommodate travelers who need extra time. No dedicated family/special-assistance security lane is documented at ONT's two checkpoints (Terminal 2 and Terminal 4). Travelers with young children or who need extra time should tell any TSA officer at the checkpoint, or pre-arrange support through TSA Cares (1-855-787-2227) at least 72 hours ahead.
Where is the service animal relief area at ONT airport?
Outdoor relief areas ('Barking Lots') are on the departure level at the east end of each terminal (before security), stocked with waste bags and trash cans. Indoor, post-security relief areas are near Gate 210 in Terminal 2 and Gate 410 in Terminal 4. Service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow your individual airline's policies.
