Accessibility
Wheelchair assistance at Kahului Airport is provided free by your airline — request it at booking for best results. For security screening help, call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel to have a Passenger Support Specialist waiting at the checkpoint. Family lanes, service animal relief areas, and sensory rooms are covered below.

Airline-provided service
Wheelchair assistance
Request wheelchair assistance through your airline at booking or check-in — arrange it as early as possible, ideally when reservations are made or confirmed. Airline-affiliated skycaps provide assistance with boarding, deplaning, and moving between the ticketing lobby, security, and gates.
Tip: request at booking rather than at the airport — airline wheelchair assistants are in higher demand at peak times and early requests are filled first.
TSA Cares
Free security screening assistance
TSA Cares is a free helpline and on-site assistance program for travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, or other circumstances that may affect the security screening process.
How to use: Call 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before travel. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the OGG security checkpoint and guide you through screening at no charge.
Call TSA Cares at 855-787-2227 (or submit a request via the TSA Cares web form) at least 72 hours before your flight to arrange for a passenger support specialist to meet you before the checkpoint and guide you through screening. TSA Cares does not arrange onboard wheelchair service or in-flight assistance — that must be booked separately with your airline.
OGG does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints. Ask any TSA agent at the checkpoint for assistance — agents are trained to help travelers with special needs and can route you around standard queue lines.
A grassy, picket-fenced service animal relief area is located outside (before) Checkpoint 2, near the baggage claim end of the terminal. Ask any airport or TSA employee for directions if signage isn't visible.
Note: service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow individual airline policies — check with your carrier before travel.
OGG does not currently have a confirmed public sensory room. Kahului Airport does not have a dedicated sensory/quiet room. Travelers who need a lower-stimulation space can ask the Visitor Information Program desk (808-872-3893, staffed 7:45am–9:45pm daily) for a quieter waiting area, or arrange extra time and support through the checkpoint via TSA Cares.
There is no on-site wheelchair or mobility-scooter rental counter in the terminal; airlines supply loaner wheelchairs for use within the airport on request. For a personal wheelchair or scooter during your Maui stay, off-airport medical-equipment companies (e.g., Gammie HomeCare, Akamai Mobility, Maui Vacation Equipment) deliver to hotels and, in some cases, near the airport.
Motorized scooters and power wheelchairs are generally available from airlines for gate-to-gate use; contact your carrier directly if you need a motorized device beyond a standard transport chair.
Pro Tip
Elevators serve the second-level departure/arrival and concession areas, and every restroom has wide stalls with grab bars, but confirm wheelchair arrangements with your airline before you fly — OGG's single-level, open-air gate concourses (Gates 17–39) involve real walking distance from the ticketing lobby, and skycap availability can be tight during Maui's heaviest interisland departure banks.
Is wheelchair assistance free at OGG airport?
Yes — wheelchair assistance at OGG is provided free of charge by your airline or their contracted ground handler. Request it at booking or check-in. The airline arranges and covers the cost; no tipping is required, though it is appreciated.
How do I contact TSA Cares before my flight from OGG?
Call TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours before your flight. The helpline is open weekdays 8 a.m.–11 p.m. ET and weekends/holidays 9 a.m.–8 p.m. ET. You can also submit a request online at tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares. A Passenger Support Specialist will meet you at the OGG security checkpoint at no cost.
Does OGG airport have a family security lane?
Kahului Airport does not have a permanently signed dedicated family lane at all checkpoints, but TSA officers are trained to accommodate travelers who need extra time. No dedicated family/special-assistance security lane has been confirmed at OGG — TSA's 'Families on the Fly' expedited-lane program has so far only been launched at Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), not Kahului. Travelers with TSA PreCheck should use Checkpoint 2 near baggage claim; if traveling with family, small children, or needing extra time, ask any TSA officer at either checkpoint for guidance — they can accommodate you without a marked lane.
Where is the service animal relief area at OGG airport?
A grassy, picket-fenced service animal relief area is located outside (before) Checkpoint 2, near the baggage claim end of the terminal. Ask any airport or TSA employee for directions if signage isn't visible. Service animals are permitted throughout all airport areas without restriction. Emotional support animals follow your individual airline's policies.
