Picking someone up? Wait free at Cell Phone Lot. Just off the airport entrance road, before you reach the terminal. Wait there until your traveler texts that they're at the curb, then loop in once. Follow the entrance road and watch for cell phone lot signs; turn left before the terminal.

Uber and Lyft pick you up on Level 1 in a marked zone just outside baggage claim. Drivers wait in a separate staging lot off Loyola Drive, so pickups can take a few extra minutes when it is busy.

Dropping off? Drop off on the upper-level Departures curb. You may only stop to load or unload, not park. New Orleanshas a single terminal, so there's no wrong-curb risk — any door gets you to check-in and security.

MSY sits about 14 miles from Downtown New Orleans (CBD), a drive of roughly 20–35 minutes via I-10 East to downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter — closer to the high end at rush hour. No train reaches the terminal. RTA's Airport Express (Route 202) runs to downtown New Orleans, stopping at Elk Place and the Union Passenger Terminal, where you can transfer to a streetcar. JeT's E1 bus also serves the area. Buses leave from Level 1, Door 2, Zones B4-B5.

Fare: $1.25 on the RTA 202. JeT's E1 bus is $1.50 in Jefferson Parish or $2.00 into New Orleans.

A free shuttle runs 24/7 between the terminal and the remote Economy Garage. If a shuttle is part of your plan, add its ride time to your Leave-By Time — it's easy to forget the 15–20 minutes between the curb and the terminal.
