Picking someone up? Wait free at Final Approach. Free 24/7 cell phone lot (about 253 spaces) located outbound on Pena Boulevard about 3 miles west of Jeppesen Terminal, with a 2-hour maximum wait; amenities include a 24-hour Dunkin', restrooms, fuel and flight-info screens. There's a posted limit of about 120 minutes, so wait there until your traveler has their bags and is at the curb. Address 7684 N. Wenatchee St (about 3 miles west of the terminal); from the terminal head outbound on Pena Blvd and follow 'Cell Phone Lot' signs-a newer dedicated on-ramp returns waiting drivers straight onto inbound Pena Blvd.
Leaving a car for the trip instead of getting dropped off? It's worth checking the lots: compare DENparking by price & distance.

Uber/Lyft pick up at Jeppesen Terminal Level 5, Island 5 (either the East or West side); order in-app after baggage claim and follow the 'Ride Share' signs. Everything stages on Level 5 but at different islands-taxis at Island 1, rideshare at Island 5, shared vans/hotel shuttles at Island 4; make sure you walk to the correct island.
Dropping off? Drop-offs at the Level 6 departures curb of Jeppesen Terminal; active loading and unloading only. Denverhas a single terminal, so there's no wrong-curb risk — any door gets you to check-in and security.
DEN sits about 23 miles from Downtown Denver, a drive of roughly 30–55 minutes via Pena Boulevard out to I-70 west into downtown Denver — closer to the high end at rush hour. That drive time is the first input into your Leave-By Time, so the calculator counts it backward from your flight along with today's security wait and the walk to your gate.
By rail, your option is RTD A Line — figure about 37 minutes to Downtown Denver. The RTD A Line commuter train departs the Airport Transit Center on Level 1 (beneath the Westin hotel) and runs directly to Denver Union Station in about 37 minutes (a 23-mile trip), every 15 minutes most of the day and 24/7, for a $10 Airport Day Pass. Follow 'Train to Denver' signs from baggage claim.
Fare: $10 Airport Day Pass (covers the one-way A Line trip plus the rest of that service day system-wide).
40+ hotels run shuttles, all picking up on Level 5; shared-ride vans at Level 5 Islands 4-5; mountain/ski shuttles to Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone etc. depart Level 5 Island 4. If a shuttle is part of your plan, add its ride time to your Leave-By Time — it's easy to forget the 15–20 minutes between the curb and the terminal.
Here's the math. Parking starts around $8/day, while a round-trip taxi or rideshare to Downtown Denver runs about $144. So a round trip by car comes out ahead once you're away more than about 18 days — for a quick trip, parking usually costs less; for a long one, getting a ride does.
Want the exact trade-off for your dates? compare DENparking by price & distance — the closest lot isn't always the one that costs the least.

Wheelchair-accessible (WAV) taxis at the Island 1 stand and WAV via Uber/Lyft; accessible Level 5 islands; the A Line and Transit Center are fully ADA-accessible.
Late or overnight arrival? Taxis (Level 5, Island 1) and Uber/Lyft run 24/7; the A Line also operates 24/7-every 15 minutes during the day and roughly every 30 minutes overnight.
Returning a rental on the way out? Rental fleets are off-site along Pena Blvd; return at your rental company's facility and ride its free shuttle from Level 5 back to (or out of) the terminal-allow extra time. (We cover where to return a car, not where to book one.)
Recently changed: DEN's 'Final Approach' cell phone lot now has a dedicated on-ramp (opened mid-2025) that returns waiting drivers straight onto inbound Pena Blvd, trimming the pickup loop. Flat taxi fares re-confirmed on the DEN taxi page updated May 2026. Pickup zones and curb rules change — we verified DEN's ground-transport details as of June 27, 2026. Always check the in-app pickup pin and posted signs when you land.
If a fare or a schedule points you elsewhere, the closest airport we cover is COS (Colorado Springs), about 73 miles from DEN in a straight line. The same math on this page — drive time, ride cost, security wait — decides whether the extra distance is worth it.
