Arrivals pickup guide
Picking someone up at Atlanta (ATL)? The Park & Wait Lotis the free designated waiting area where drivers park at no charge while their passenger's flight lands and bags are collected. Below you will find exact directions, the time limit and fee rules, how to know when your passenger is ready, and what to do if the lot is full.

The ATL cell phone lot is called the Park & Wait Lot. The lot is at 1920 Autoport Drive, College Park, GA (off the airport's western roadway loop). From I-85 North, take the Domestic Terminal exit, turn right onto Autoport Drive, and follow posted signs. From I-85 South or Camp Creek Parkway, take the Domestic Terminal exit, follow signs toward ATL West Parking/Rental Car Center, and at the intersection of Rental Car Center Parkway and Crosswinds Road stay in the far-right lane following signs to the Park & Wait Lot. Permanent signs and electronic message boards on all airport approach roads direct drivers to the lot.
Open the Park & Wait Lot in Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation to the lot entrance.
No enforced time limit; free 24/7 short-term waiting area. There is no charge regardless of how long you stay, but plan your timing so you pull up to arrivals right as your passenger steps outside — circling burns time and fuel, and curbside officers will wave you on if you stop too early.
Capacity: ATL has not published an official vehicle count for the Park & Wait Lot. Expect the lot to fill quickly during peak arrival banks — if it is full when you arrive, see the options in the last section below.
Track the flight on FlightAware or the airline's own app; ask your passenger to text you the moment they clear baggage claim and are heading outside — that is your cue to depart the lot, since arriving at the curb too early means circling or being waved off by traffic control.
As a general rule, ask your passenger to text you only after they have their bags and are physically walking toward the arrivals curb — not when the plane touches down. Checked-bag passengers typically need 15–25 minutes after landing for baggage claim at domestic airports, and 45–60 minutesafter landing at international gates where customs adds extra time. Once you get the “at curb with bags” message, pull out and head straight there — a precise pick-up beats circling every time.
ATL is the world's busiest airport with near-constant arrivals; use the lot's free Wi-Fi to monitor your passenger's flight live, and only leave the lot once they confirm via text that they have their bags and are walking to the arrivals curb — the drive from the lot to domestic arrivals takes just 2–3 minutes so there is no need to leave early.
If the Park & Wait Lot is full when you arrive, you have three practical options:
Plan your trip
Know exactly when to leave for the airport
The Leave-By Calculator combines the live ATL TSA wait time, your drive with real-time traffic, and your boarding window into one exact time to walk out the door — no more guessing or adding “just in case” buffers by hand.

If the Park & Wait Lot is full, your best options are to do a slow loop of the airport access road and try again, pull into a short-term or daily parking garage (free for the first 15–30 minutes at many airports), or wait in an adjacent surface lot if one is available. Avoid stopping on the terminal curbside — officers will wave you on immediately.
Most cell phone lots, including the Park & Wait Lot, require drivers to remain with their vehicles at all times. Unattended vehicles are typically towed at the owner's expense. If you need to use a restroom or grab a snack, look for amenities inside or adjacent to the lot before committing to a long wait.
