Maps are updated when terminals are renovated or new concourses open. Terminal 5 at LAX, for example, has been closed since October 2025 for reconstruction — always confirm your terminal from your boarding pass rather than relying on a saved map.
Here is what each terminal or concourse at ANC handles — which airlines fly from it, the gate range, and key amenities to know before you go.
The South Terminal is ANC's larger, primary terminal and handles nearly all domestic flights, including Alaska Airlines, Delta, United, American, and JetBlue. It has three concourses — A, B, and C — with Concourses A and B directly connected, making gate-to-gate movement between them straightforward. Concourse C is the most recently renovated, with a modern layout and the airport's newest gate facilities. The South Terminal houses the bulk of ANC's dining and retail, the Alaska Lounge (near gate C1), and the South Terminal security checkpoint with TSA PreCheck lanes.
The smaller North Terminal handles international departures/arrivals and seasonal charter flights; all of its gates are close together, making it simple to navigate. It has its own security checkpoint, a US Customs and Border Protection facility for international arrivals, an ATM and duty-free shop airside between gates N5 and N6, and a small cluster of Alaska-themed retail (Alaska Kids, Alaska Souvenirs and Apparel, Fashion World Accessories, David Green Fur Gallery). Dining options here are limited compared to the South Terminal.
The South and North Terminals are connected landside (before security) by both a covered pedestrian walkway — about a 5–10 minute walk between the north end of the South Terminal and the south end of the North Terminal — and a free shuttle bus that runs roughly every 15 minutes between both terminals and the Rental Car Center. There is no airside/post-security connection between the two terminals.
Timing tip
Always allow 15–30 minutes for any inter-terminal transfer at ANC — wait times for people-movers, buses, or security re-screening add up faster than the physical distance suggests. Build the buffer into your Leave-By time, not your gate arrival time.
Confirm which terminal your flight uses before you head to security — South Terminal for essentially all domestic flights, North Terminal only for international and seasonal charter departures. The two terminals have separate checkpoints, so if you go to the wrong one you'll need to exit, walk or ride the shuttle over (5–10 minutes), and clear security again.
A few habits that prevent last-minute sprints:

Look for departure boards throughout the terminal for real-time gate information.
