Arrivals pickup guide
Picking someone up at Seattle–Tacoma (SEA)? The Cell Phone Lotis the free designated waiting area where drivers park at no charge while their passenger's flight lands and bags are collected. Below you will find exact directions, the time limit and fee rules, how to know when your passenger is ready, and what to do if the lot is full.

The SEA cell phone lot is called the Cell Phone Lot. From WA-518 eastbound or WA-99 southbound, take the Sea-Tac Airport access road north toward the terminal. Stay in the right lane as you approach the terminal and look for brown 'Cell Phone Lot' signs — the lot is located on South 170th Street, just off the airport access road before the terminal loop. It is clearly signed from both the departures and arrivals access roads.
Open the Cell Phone Lot in Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation to the lot entrance.
No time limit. There is no charge regardless of how long you stay, but plan your timing so you pull up to arrivals right as your passenger steps outside — circling burns time and fuel, and curbside officers will wave you on if you stop too early.
Capacity: The Cell Phone Lot holds ~400 vehicles. On busy travel days the lot can fill up, so arrive early and have a backup plan.
Ask your passenger to text when they exit the baggage claim doors onto the ground transportation level. SEA's baggage claim is on Level 1 (ground) — from there, the curb is immediate.
As a general rule, ask your passenger to text you only after they have their bags and are physically walking toward the arrivals curb — not when the plane touches down. Checked-bag passengers typically need 15–25 minutes after landing for baggage claim at domestic airports, and 45–60 minutesafter landing at international gates where customs adds extra time. Once you get the “at curb with bags” message, pull out and head straight there — a precise pick-up beats circling every time.
SEA has a single main terminal building. Rideshare and taxi pickup is on the third floor (departures level, 'Rideshare' signs). The Rental Car facility and cell phone lot are both on S 170th St. The drive from the lot to the terminal curb is 3-4 minutes. Avoid peak afternoon times (3-7 PM) when the access road backs up.
If the Cell Phone Lot is full when you arrive, you have three practical options:

Know exactly when to leave for the airport
The Leave-By Calculator combines the live SEA TSA wait time, your drive with real-time traffic, and your boarding window into one exact time to walk out the door — no more guessing or adding “just in case” buffers by hand.

If the Cell Phone Lot is full, your best options are to do a slow loop of the airport access road and try again, pull into a short-term or daily parking garage (free for the first 15–30 minutes at many airports), or wait in an adjacent surface lot if one is available. Avoid stopping on the terminal curbside — officers will wave you on immediately.
Most cell phone lots, including the Cell Phone Lot, require drivers to remain with their vehicles at all times. Unattended vehicles are typically towed at the owner's expense. If you need to use a restroom or grab a snack, look for amenities inside or adjacent to the lot before committing to a long wait.
