Richmond (RIC) Airport Shopping

Shopping at Richmond International Airport spans convenience staples at Hudson News and tech accessories at InMotion through to local specialty gifts and duty-free for international travelers. See each section below for exact locations by concourse or terminal.

Diagram of duty-free shopping with sealed liquid bags and the rules for carrying them through connections.
Duty-free liquids must stay in the sealed store bag to clear security on international connecting flights.

Duty-free shopping

None. RIC has no duty-free shop as of this writing — airport commissioners have publicly discussed adding one as part of a possible future nonstop Europe route, but nothing has opened. Its only current international-adjacent routes are Breeze's seasonal Cancún flight and JetBlue's daily San Juan, PR service (a U.S. territory, not applicable for duty-free).

US duty-free allowance

US residents may bring back $800 in duty-free goods per person. Liquids purchased at duty-free must be in the original sealed store bag when transiting international connections — otherwise they may be confiscated at the connecting airport security checkpoint.

Books & magazines

Hudson News and Hudson Booksellers operate multiple locations across the pre-security Atrium and both post-security concourses, carrying magazines, bestsellers, and travel reads.

Convenience & travel essentials

Hudson News locations throughout the terminal (post-security Concourse A & B stores open 4:30am until the last flight; pre-security Atrium locations keep shorter hours) carry snacks, drinks, and travel sundries.

Hudson News is at most gate areas throughout Richmond International Airport — a reliable last-minute stop for charging cables, snacks, OTC medicine, and reading material before any departure.

Tech & electronics

Tech on the Go (post-security, open 4:30am until the last flight) is RIC's only dedicated electronics retailer, stocking headphones, chargers, adapters, and other travel tech.

Best Buy Express kiosks carry Apple accessories, Bose headphones, and phone chargers at most major US airports. InMotion Entertainment is the other key tech stop — open at most gate clusters and stocked with travel-oriented electronics essentials.

Fashion & specialty retail

No dedicated fashion or apparel boutique. Discover Virginia carries Virginia-themed apparel and gifts, and Hudson locations carry limited branded/souvenir merchandise; otherwise it's standard airport convenience retail.

Best shopping area

The pre-security Atrium has the widest mix — Hudson Booksellers, Discover Virginia, Applebee's, and Ironclad Coffee Roasters all cluster here, making it the best spot to shop or grab a gift before heading to your concourse.

Pro Tip

Because RIC has no duty-free, don't plan on last-minute international liquor, fragrance, or cosmetics shopping. For a Virginia-specific souvenir, Discover Virginia in the Atrium is the best — and only dedicated — gift shop in the airport.
