Maps are updated when terminals are renovated or new concourses open. Terminal 5 at LAX, for example, has been closed since October 2025 for reconstruction — always confirm your terminal from your boarding pass rather than relying on a saved map.
Here is what each terminal or concourse at RDU handles — which airlines fly from it, the gate range, and key amenities to know before you go.
Single linear concourse with gates A1–A9. Serves Alaska, Avelo, Breeze, Southwest, and Sun Country. All departures for these carriers use Terminal 1 regardless of destination. Note: Avelo, Breeze, and Southwest international-flight arrivals land at Terminal 2 instead. Two levels: Concourse Level (gates) above, Ticketing and Bag Claim Level below. Amenities include CLEAR Enrollment, Alaska and Southwest Bag Service offices, Starbucks, Char-Grill, Raleigh Beer Garden, and 3 bag-claim carousels.
Larger terminal with two concourses: C (gates C1–C25) and D (gates D1–D20), connected at a central hub. Serves American, Delta, United, JetBlue, Frontier, Air Canada, Air France, Lufthansa, Aeromexico, Aer Lingus, Icelandair, BermudAir, Copa Airlines, and WestJet. Houses all international arrivals (CBP), Raleigh-Durham Duty Free, Admirals Club, Delta Sky Club, United Club, and a significantly larger retail/dining footprint including get REEF Virtual Food Hall. Two levels: Ticketing and Concourse Level (check-in, security, gates) and a separate Bag Claim level below.
Landside pedestrian tunnel through the parking garage connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (labeled on the T1 map as "Tunnel to Parking Garage and Terminal 2"). The connection is not airside — passengers must exit the secure zone, walk through the tunnel, and re-clear security at the other terminal.
Timing tip
Always allow 15–30 minutes for any inter-terminal transfer at RDU — wait times for people-movers, buses, or security re-screening add up faster than the physical distance suggests. Build the buffer into your Leave-By time, not your gate arrival time.
Southwest, Avelo, and Breeze always depart from Terminal 1 but their international flights arrive at Terminal 2 — if you are connecting from one of these carriers to or from an international itinerary, budget extra time to transit the landside tunnel and re-clear security before your gate.
A few habits that prevent last-minute sprints:

Look for departure boards throughout the terminal for real-time gate information.
