Philadelphia (PHL) Airport Shopping

Shopping at Philadelphia International Airport spans convenience staples at Hudson News and tech accessories at InMotion through to local specialty gifts and duty-free for international travelers. See each section below for exact locations by concourse or terminal.

Diagram of duty-free shopping with sealed liquid bags and the rules for carrying them through connections.
Duty-free liquids must stay in the sealed store bag to clear security on international connecting flights.

Duty-free shopping

Two duty-free operators serve international departures: Duty Free by 3Sixty near Terminal A-West (Floor 2, departures level, past security; 7–11am and 3–10pm daily) and Duty Free by DFASS with three locations — Gate A9 (A-East) and Gates A14/A18 (A-West), roughly 7–11am and 2–10pm, later on weekends. Both carry liquor, tobacco, fragrance, cosmetics, jewelry, watches, and candy; liquor and tobacco are restricted to passengers whose next stop after PHL is an international destination, while fragrance, cosmetics, and gifts are open to all travelers (with PA sales tax added for non-international purchases).

US duty-free allowance

US residents may bring back $800 in duty-free goods per person. Liquids purchased at duty-free must be in the original sealed store bag when transiting international connections — otherwise they may be confiscated at the connecting airport security checkpoint.

Books & magazines

Hudson News has multiple locations across nearly every concourse (A-East, A-West, B, C, D, E, F — including gate-specific spots like F18 and F24), covering magazines, bestsellers, snacks, and travel essentials. There's no standalone independent bookstore; Hudson is the airport-wide default for reading material.

Convenience & travel essentials

Hudson News locations double as the primary convenience stores throughout the terminals, supplemented by grab-and-go spots in the Marketplace food-and-shop areas of each concourse for snacks, drinks, and travel basics.

Hudson News is at most gate areas throughout Philadelphia International Airport — a reliable last-minute stop for charging cables, snacks, OTC medicine, and reading material before any departure.

Tech & electronics

InMotion Entertainment carries headphones, speakers, portable chargers, and mobile accessories, with locations in the B/C Connector, Terminal C, and near Gate D9. No Apple Store or Best Buy Express presence has been confirmed at PHL — InMotion is the airport's main tech/electronics retailer.

Best Buy Express kiosks carry Apple accessories, Bose headphones, and phone chargers at most major US airports. InMotion Entertainment is the other key tech stop — open at most gate clusters and stocked with travel-oriented electronics essentials.

Fashion & specialty retail

Sunglass Hut (Terminal C / Marketplace, Ray-Ban/Oakley/Prada selection), Pandora and Brighton Collectibles for jewelry and accessories, and Brooks Brothers and Life is Good for apparel are the notable fashion retailers. Philadelphia sports fans are well served: Philadelphia Sports/PHL Sports and The Scoreboard (Terminal B) sell Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers gear, jerseys, and caps. Brookstone is also present in Terminal A-West for travel gadgets and gifts.

Best shopping area

Terminal A-West is PHL's strongest shopping concourse — it combines both duty-free operators (3Sixty and DFASS), Brookstone, Hudson News, and the broader Philadelphia Marketplace retail mix, making it the best stop for both international travelers and domestic shoppers with time to browse.

Pro Tip

Duty-free liquor and tobacco purchases require an international next-destination — if you're connecting through PHL to another US city, you can still buy fragrance, cosmetics, and gifts duty-tax-adjusted, but not spirits or tobacco. Check DFASS's Gate A18 hours before a late Friday/Saturday flight — it stays open later (until 10pm straight through) than the other duty-free counters that close for a midday break.
