Rideshare & Ground Transport

Uber & Lyft Pickup at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport

Rideshare pickup at OAK is not always at the arrivals curb — most airports now route Uber and Lyft to a dedicated lot or garage. Here is exactly where to go, how to get there, and how to keep the fare reasonable.

Most airports route Uber and Lyft to a dedicated pickup lot or garage rather than the arrivals curb.

Pickup and drop-off often sit on different curb levels — arrivals below, departures above — so follow signs to the right level.

In the app

Search 'Oakland International Airport (OAK)' and select your terminal (T1 or T2); app routes to the 3C sections on the third curb

How to find the rideshare zone

Exit baggage claim through the sliding doors, follow 'Ride App Pickup' signs, cross the first pedestrian crossing, and continue walking past the first and second curbs to the dedicated third curb (3C).

Avoiding surge pricing at OAK

When surge peaks: Surge peaks Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings; Giants, A's, and Warriors game nights affect the East Bay; OAK is a budget-travel alternative to SFO and sees cost-conscious travelers who also watch ride pricing closely.

Wait tip

You must walk past two curbs before reaching the rideshare zone — it takes about 3–4 minutes from baggage claim; request the ride while walking so the driver arrives as you do.

Compare your options

Rideshare is usually the fastest door-to-door option, but it is not always the cheapest — especially during surge.
