Maps are updated when terminals are renovated or new concourses open. Terminal 5 at LAX, for example, has been closed since October 2025 for reconstruction — always confirm your terminal from your boarding pass rather than relying on a saved map.

What is in each New York terminal?

Here is what each terminal or concourse at LGA handles — which airlines fly from it, the gate range, and key amenities to know before you go.

A

The smallest terminal at LGA, originally the historic Marine Air Terminal. Houses 6 gates (A1–A6) with a single TSA security checkpoint. Currently served by Frontier Airlines (Spirit Airlines ceased operations May 2026). Compact layout with limited dining (Dunkin, CIBO Express, Salotto) and no airline lounges. Sits on the west side of the airport, separated from Terminals B and C.

B

The largest terminal, formerly known as the Central Terminal Building (CTB). Rebuilt as a new 1.3M sq ft facility completed in phases through 2022. Two concourses: Western Concourse (Gates 11–31) and Eastern Concourse (Gates 40–59), totaling roughly 35 gates. Airlines: American Airlines, Air Canada, JetBlue Airways, Porter Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines. Features extensive dining, shopping, and lounges. Check-in and baggage claim are in the main headhouse connecting both concourses.

C

Brand-new $4 billion facility opened 2022, which absorbed the former Terminal D entirely. Delta Air Lines exclusive hub with 37 gates across four concourses (Gates 61–69, 71–79, 82–89, 92–98). Also serves WestJet. Offers 220+ daily Delta departures. Most modern terminal at LGA with premium retail, dining, and the Delta Sky Club. D

Terminal D no longer exists as a standalone facility. It was permanently closed and its operations were fully consolidated into the new Terminal C during the 2022 LGA redevelopment project. All Delta and WestJet flights that formerly used Terminal D now operate from Terminal C.

How do I get between terminals at New York?

Free LaGuardia Link shuttle bus running 24/7, every 8–10 minutes at peak times and every 15 minutes off-peak, looping between all terminals (A, B, C) and parking/rental car facilities. No airside connections exist between any terminals — passengers must exit security to transfer. A pre-security pedestrian walkway exists between Terminals B and C (roughly 7–15 min walk) but has no signage. GPS-tracked bus arrivals are available via the airport's real-time tracker.

Timing tip

Always allow 15–30 minutes for any inter-terminal transfer at LGA — wait times for people-movers, buses, or security re-screening add up faster than the physical distance suggests. Build the buffer into your Leave-By time, not your gate arrival time.

How do I find my gate at New York?

No terminals at LGA are connected airside — if your connection requires switching terminals (e.g., arriving Delta in Terminal C, departing American in Terminal B), you must exit security, take the free shuttle bus or walk unsignposted, and clear security again. Budget at least 45–60 minutes minimum for any inter-terminal connection, especially during peak hours when shuttle traffic can be slow.

A few habits that prevent last-minute sprints:

  • Open your airline app two hours before departure. Gate assignments update in the app before they appear on printed boarding passes and sometimes before terminal displays are updated.
  • Check departure screens immediately after clearing security. Every terminal at LGA has overhead departure boards near the checkpoint exit — confirming your gate here costs 30 seconds and can save a long detour.
  • Note which security checkpoint serves your concourse. At multi-concourse airports, entering through the wrong checkpoint can mean exiting security and re-queuing, which adds 20 minutes or more.
  • International arrivals follow the customs signs first. If you are connecting from an international arrival, clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection before looking for your domestic connection gate — the process is one-way.

What is the easiest way to navigate New York?

Experienced travellers at LGA use a short checklist every time:

  • Review the map before leaving home. Open the New York interactive map on your phone while you are still home so the terminal layout is familiar.
  • Know your terminal before you arrive. At airports with multiple separate buildings (JFK, LAX, DTW, MSP) confirm your terminal from your boarding pass — rideshare and taxi drivers need the correct terminal to drop you at the right curb.
  • Use automated people-movers instead of walking. At large airports with trains (ATL Plane Train, DFW Skylink, DEN AGTS) a single train ride replaces 20–30 minutes of walking. Look for signs to the train immediately after clearing security.
  • Follow colour-coded signage. Most airports (TPA Blue/Red, SEA North/South Satellite, PHX T3/T4) use colour or number coding from curbside through gates — picking the right colour zone at check-in means you do not cross the terminal twice.
  • Check the live TSA wait before you leave. Knowing the current security wait at LGA lets you time your departure so you arrive at the gate relaxed, not sprinting.
