Step-by-step diagram for connecting to free airport WiFi from a phone or laptop.
Select the airport network, open a browser, and accept the terms on the portal page to start browsing.

How to connect

  1. Open WiFi settings on your phone or laptop.
  2. Select AVL Free WiFi from the list of available networks.
  3. Open any browser — the airport portal page loads automatically.
  4. Tap Connect (or Accept Terms) to agree and start browsing.

Speed and coverage

AVL WiFi delivers adequate speeds on the AVL Free WiFi network. AVL WiFi provides adequate speeds for browsing and email; streaming and video calls may buffer during peak hours when the most passengers are connected simultaneously. Coverage extends throughout the terminal areas and concourses — you generally do not need to reconnect as you move through the airport.

Charging stations

The North Concourse's gate-area seating (rebuilt in 2025) has power outlets and USB charging built into most seating rows; three FuelRod SwapBox kiosks are also in the terminal if you need a portable charger instead. Most major US airports — including AVL — provide a mix of USB-A, USB-C, and standard 120 V outlets at gate seating. Bring your own cable; cables are not supplied at charging kiosks.

Pro Tip

AVL's network name has changed as the terminal has been rebuilt in phases under AVL Forward, so if "AVL Free WiFi" doesn't show up, check for a similarly named splash-page network rather than assuming WiFi is down.
